Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms® workshop
Oct.
31. - Nov. 4. 2012 Silkeborg,
Denmark
With Andrea Juhan (USA)
Assisted by Annette Uhlemann & Jan RedstedCycles III
The Momentum of
Mind
Are you out of your mind?
Stuck in your head? Do you sound like a broken record? Do
you yearn for peace of mind, some place where your thoughts
can enhance or support your experience rather than
over-stimulate, bombard or abandon you?
The mind is a beautiful dancer and, like everything else,
the movement of mind is a dance. When it moves freely, the
mind is fluid, rich, rhythmic, brilliant, and wise. Too
often, we compartmentalize ourselves; we forget the simple
truth that our head is a part of our body. In an effort to
connect with the immediacy of our physical, emotional, or
spiritual experience, we sometimes reject or denigrate our
mental intelligence. We view our mind as an obstacle to our
well-being, rather than welcoming it as a crucial and
integral part of our wholeness.
Of course, the mind can be a dangerous place, when it clouds
our experience and causes us to lose touch with our bodies
and emotions, or with the people and the environment around
us. Being caught in repetitive loops of thinking, and
hearing the voices of criticism or judgment is painful,
limiting, and no fun. But when we cut ourselves off from
‘Mind’ because we don’t like the quality of our thoughts, we
disconnect from a vast and valuable resource - a tremendous
source of creativity, energy, innovation, inspiration, and
focus.
In this workshop, we will investigate the Life Cycles from
the perspective of an embodied mind. Just as we use the
5Rhythms movement practice to free stuck energy in our
bodies and emotions, we can also use movement to work with
the places where we get lost in thought: past present or
future. We will invite the thinking mind to dance, to use
our limbs to express its amazing and sometimes chaotic
creativity; we will open ourselves to the wisdom,
intelligence, and power of crystallized attention that
constitutes an awakened, open Mind.
Any workshop in the Cycles Suite can be taken in any order,
at any time; each one is intimately related to the others,
and each is relevant for any point in one’s life. In this
series, each workshop invites us to attend to a particular
realm of development so that we may bring more fullness and
presence to our experience of being alive.
The Cycles Suite
I - The Living Body - What is our genetic inheritance? How
do we relate to, and care for, our own flesh and blood? Here
we explore our relationship to the vehicle that moves us
through this life.
II - The Heart’s Expansion - How does our heart contract and
expand as time goes on? What touches and moves us? In this
workshop, we trace and develop our capacity to feel, express,
connect, and respond.
III - The Momentum of Mind – Here we practice tapping into,
and making peace with, our mind’s remarkable energy,
flexibility, curiosity, and creativity – meeting and riding
the Momentum of Mind.
IV - The Soul’s Unfolding – accepting, offering, and
committing to our unique gifts, talents, and purpose. In
this workshop, we make way for the unfolding dance of our
soul.
V -The Eternal Spirit – What else is there? Here we honor
that which already is – what always has been, and always
will be. This workshop is an invitation to receive, embody,
and rest within the ever-present Eternal Spirit or life
force that moves through all.
