 Practice for Ethical Caring

About the workDear 5Rhythms TeachersA new workshop for 5Rhythms Teachers - open to all
					5Rhythms teachers - whether or not you're a member of 5RTA.

This offering is the result of over 3 years of deep
					inquiry
It began when Jonathan and Jan came together to reflect
on the dramatic changes in the world since Gabrielle’s
passing in 2012—changes that call for a renewed
understanding of our core values, principles, and ethical
foundations. Jason Rowe joined the project in 2022, and the
process has since unfolded into a living exploration.
 During this time, 5RG
experienced both a pandemic and the sudden departure of two
key leaders. This exposed vulnerabilities in our
organization and invited us to look with new eyes at what we
are, how we relate and how we evolve. What we found was a complex
field with unwritten values, silent codes of behavior and
					unspoken tensions. "We are
like plants and gardeners - we don’t force plants to grow -
we remove what’s in the way and nourish the soil" Our world is facing a
convergence of multiple, interconnected global challenges.
Environmental collapse threatens the very ecosystems that
sustain life. Increasing inequality widens the gap between
the privileged and the marginalized. We witness the erosion
of trust in institutions, rampant mental health crises, and
a pervasive sense of disconnection and meaninglessness. The
crises we face today can only be met by recognizing that we
are in this together and by letting go of the individualized
more or less capitalistic identifications and move towards
skills and abilities to be in- and to create community. We can ask how we as a
5Rhythms practice, business, tradition, community and
cosmology could be best practice for a model that would
demonstrate true communality We preach freedom,
compassion, diversity, soulful behavior and community, but
we can ask if our organization is the best example of a
field that works together in coherence with common
traditions, interests, purposes and shared beliefs?
					 Are we collectively stuck in
an individualizes paradigm, with competitive behaviors, and
territorial issues with the consequence of being in an
imagination void - a lack of possibilities that limits our
ability to envision and create new and better futures in
true community that works for the common good. We need models of real
community with shared responsibility. And we believe
5Rhythms has the potential to be such a model. Aware, Care, Share. invites
us to do just that. To step into collective reflection and
ethical practice - not as rules, but as nourishment for our
profession, our field and our future. To foster trust and
mutual respect in our network of teachers. To deepen
integrity in how we show up. To gain clarity and support in
complex situations, to reconnect with purpose and to thrive
together. This workshop is not a
solution—it’s a beginning of a practice for ethical caring.
					 A space to move, share,
reflect and tend the ground together. On behalf of the Ethical
Caring Initiative With Love Jason and Jan

					harm’ Gabrielle Roth

Ethics lie at the center of
					competent and effective teaching.
As 5Rhythms teachers, we encounter challenging ethical
dilemmas: boundary issues, collegial conflicts, moral
considerations, and complex participant dynamics. Many
teachers have found themselves navigating difficult
					situations that can
 feel isolating and unclear.
This workshop creates a supportive space where we can
explore these challenges together, building understanding
					rather than seeking simple answers.

					We will be approaching ethical
dilemmas through dialogue and reflection rather than rules
					or dogma.
The focus is on widening our
understanding of complex situations rather thanseeking quick solutions.

					Behind every behavior lies a
feeling or belief, and when we take time to be curious about
what drives a person’s actions, the path forward often
					becomes clear.
Through small groupdiscussions with fellow teachers, we will explore case
studies and practice documented methods that support ongoing
learning in holding space for the 5Rhythms practice.

There will be ample room to
dance and be moved together - to meet, share, listen, and be
					with one another.
					Whether you graduated in the
90’s or were on the last teacher training you’re truly
					welcome to come join us!
